Technical Director

Objective:

The Technical Director is responsible for all aspects of sound, media and video presentations for the Mechanicsville Campus. The Director will work closely with the Visual Storyteller to create environments that are appropriate for our Sunday morning event.  They will also oversee our Children’s Ministry and Rise Student Ministry technical needs.  As the technical team leader, the Technical Director will provide vision and leadership to a team of volunteers, never letting them forget why they do what they do, and why it matters to God.

Some of the duties for the position include, but are not limited to:

Team Leader

• Oversee operation of technical needs of the campus

• Clock keeper - Keep rehearsals, technical runs, and services on schedule

• Maintain all technical equipment for the campus, providing repairs or replacements as needed

• Plan, prepare and work within a budget for the technical needs of the campus

• Identify and propose solutions to technical problems that appear at the campus

• Provide technical support for special events at the campus as needed

• Maintain inventory of technical equipment and needs of the Mechanicsville Campus

Team Builder

• Continuously recruit and train a team of volunteers to fulfill the technical needs of the campus

• Schedule all technical volunteers to meet the technical needs of events held at the campus

• Invest in the spiritual growth of the technical volunteers, and provide care to the team members

• Plan team events and meetings outside of the Sunday service to build community and unity

Team Player

• Hang and focus the lighting system based on designed intentions received from the Visual Storyteller

• Assemble any applicable scenic elements based on design received from the Visual Storyteller

• On Sunday mornings, coordinate with the Online Campus Pastor to ensure proper delivery of file or stream, or appropriate backup solution

• Be an integral part of the process that flows between Atlee Central staff and the campus

• Other duties as requested by the Mechanicsville Campus Pastor

The office hours are Monday – Thursday, 9am – 5pm.  Hours may be adjusted to accommodate rehearsal schedules during the week, as approved by the Campus Pastor.  

Sunday morning the Technical Director should arrive 15 minutes before the first volunteer is expected to arrive.  A typical Sunday schedule is 6:30 am. – 12:00 noon.  However, these hours on Sunday, and during the week may need to be adjusted as the situation calls for on any given day.

This is a full time Director level position.  The average work week should encompass   40-50 hours per week as the norm.  Variances to this schedule need to be approved by the Campus Pastor.
