Job Description:

World Vision US has recently retained our executive search firm to assist in locating a National Director of Planned Giving.

Founded in 1950, World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization serving the world’s poorest children and families in nearly 100 countries with 4.3 million sponsored children. World Vision, driven by faith, enables the world’s children to realize their God-given potential by tackling the root causes of poverty. World Vision US raises more than $1 billion annually, which is given for the five need areas: food and water, healthcare, education, economic development, and emergency relief. World Vision US, located in the Seattle Area with 1,000+ employees, is the largest fundraising arm of World Vision International (WVI), one of the world’s largest charities.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Transformational Engagement, this position will have a dynamic role in the leadership and focus of an expanding gift planning department of 20 individuals. The successful candidate will set the vision, lead and manage a gift planning department whose sole responsibility is to develop, execute and track all gift planning activities. The gift planning department is currently responsible for $11 million in annual distribution and recently contributed $85 million in donor bequests to the 5-year capital campaign. The growth potential is strong with a loyal donor base for the organization approaching two million.

We seek an accomplished individual with 10+ years of experience in donor development, with a focus on gift planning. The candidate must have dealt with bequests in various forms and managed a team through a lifecycle of deferred gifts. The preferred individual will have marketing experience, data management knowledge, and previous budget accountability. The successful candidate will be a strong spiritual and executive leader who shares the passion and conviction of their ministry.

Compensation is competitive to other nonprofits and includes a solid benefits package. Relocation assistance will be provided. This is an outstanding career opportunity with a premier worldwide Christian humanitarian organization.

If you are aware of anyone with whom you feel we should be in contact regarding this opportunity, please communicate with Dwayne Foote directly (dfoote@lwfoote.com). All referrals will be held in strict confidence.
