Job Description:

Immanuel Presbyterian Church in McLean, VA is seeking a part-time (20 hours a week) Music Leader for Casual Contemporary Service to manage our weekly 5:30pm Sunday evening service.  Applicant will work with volunteers & staff to foster an environment of creative, informal worship welcoming people from many walks of life.  Applicant should be technologically savvy and able to play either the piano or guitar.

 

Applicant’s primary responsibilities include:

 

  • Leading worship for evening service, including musical leadership (with church members)
  • Coordinating with Senior Pastor to provide a creative worship environment, utilizing a variety of artistic expressions
  • Managing technology and media related to service, including securing volunteers to run to projector, and preparation of all required media   
  • Coordinating volunteer musicians for weekly rehearsal and leadership during worship
  • Collaborating with musicians to select and then arrange a wide variety of music appropriate for non-traditional worship
  • Recruiting members, including youth for musical and non-musical leadership, including the sharing of testimonies and other artistic expressions
  • Leading the setup and teardown of worship space in Meeting House, including sound equipment and artistic visual elements

 

Applicant’s qualifications should include:

  • Strong leadership and public speaking skills
  • Background with a variety of musical styles in the Christian tradition, and ability to play an instrument in worship leadership (ideally guitar or piano)
  • Ability to work with media technology
  • Strong organization skills and the ability to work on a weekly deadline
  • Sound foundation in Reformed and other Christian worship, including experience with a variety of worship styles
